Fuente Piedra, Málaga
An oasis of nature along the road
A tranquil oasis just off the A92 motorway from Seville to Granada, Fuente Piedra is easy to miss. Yet it is home to a large population of exotic birds and some of the best views in Andalusia. Worth a stop from the madding crowd? More than worth it.
The village of Fuente Piedra is a typical whitewashed agglomeration of houses and contrasting iron protective bars over the windows that, like all Spanish houses, protects them from the outside. Because of the location of the village, the area has probably been occupied since prehistoric times. Now, there are a small collection of houses that represent many social levels including the impressive palace of the Marques of Fuente de Piedra, which dates back to the 19th century.
